All EDL and EIC transactions require you to attend a designated driver licensing office in person. We recommend that you book an EDL appointment before you visit to avoid waiting in the office. If you attend a designated office without an appointment you may have to wait for service.
EDL/EIC and COVID-19
Effective March 24, 2020, we will suspend issuing, renewing and booking appointments for Enhanced Driver Licences (EDL) and Enhanced ID Cards (EIC) until further notice.
If you have an existing appointment for an EDL or EIC, ICBC will contact you directly. If you’d like to make alternate arrangements or your EDL or EIC is due for renewal, contact our Driver Licensing Contact Centre at 1-800-950-1498.There are 15 designated driver licensing offices in B.C. that handle EDL and EIC transactions

There are strict ID requirements for all EDL and EIC appointments. Be sure to check the EDL/EIC guide to find out what ID you need before coming in—we don’t want you to be disappointed. If you’re unsure about what ID is required, contact us. Prepare for your appointment using the application checklist.
When you come in for your appointment:
- bring all required, original identification documents, and
- be prepared to answer the questions in this citizenship questionnaire.

EDL/EIC vs. B.C. Services & Driver’s Licence
Please note that the EDL/EIC is not the same as the combined B.C. Services & Driver’s Licence. If you are applying for or renewing your B.C. Services & Driver’s Licence or BCID, you do not need to make an appointment.
